Kashmir does not have a single best season — it has six, and each one rewrites the valley.
Spring (March – May)
The almond blossoms come first, then the cherry, the apricot, and finally the legendary tulip garden in Srinagar — 1.6 million bulbs in bloom against the Zabarwan mountains. Daytime temperatures hover between 12°C and 22°C. Pack layers, a light raincoat, and a good camera.
Early Summer (June)
This is when the valley is at its most cinematic. Pahalgam’s meadows are an unreal green; Gulmarg’s gondola reveals a carpet of wild iris. Most honeymooners we host come in June.
Monsoon Shoulder (July – mid-August)
Light rains, dramatic light, fewer tourists, and lower prices. The Amarnath Yatra is at its peak.
Autumn (mid-September – November)
The chinar trees turn fire-red. Saffron is harvested in Pampore. Sweater weather. This is, quietly, our personal favourite.
Winter (December – February)
Gulmarg becomes one of the great ski destinations on earth. The Dal Lake half-freezes; mist rises off it at dawn. If you want a fairytale, come now — but pack serious thermals.
Late Winter (March)
A quiet, snow-melted lull. Off-peak pricing and reflective, monochrome landscapes.
